Frequently Asked Questions
What hours is the center open?
Currently, we are open 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., but we will add a 7 a.m. class if demand requires it.
What is included for meals?
Students are provided breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. All meals are served family-style and teachers eat with students to model healthy choices. Milk is provided (soy or lactose-free if needed) and drinking water is available all-day.
Do children need to be potty trained?
We support children through the potty training process. Parents should provide pull-ups and extra clothes.
What ages do you serve at the ECC?
Our preschool serves 3 and 4-year-olds, children should turn 3 by December 31, 2020.
What program is used for instruction?
We use Creative Curriculum for preschool, each study (or investigation) incorporates a daily question, read alouds, whole group, and small group activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and build critical thinking skills.
What do you use for social emotional development?
Our school uses the RULER approach, students participate in a daily emotional check-in. Teachers work with students to develop strategies to move from one quadrant of the mood meter to another. Staff have also been trained in trauma-informed practices and the Pyramid Model (from the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning)
What is the classroom size?
Classrooms consist of 18-19 students and two teachers.
What healthy and safety measures do you have in place?
- The ECC has a year-round school nurse
- All staff are trained in CPR and First Aid
- Supervision policies are in place for arrival, dismissal, and transitions
